Will you even take a mere 20 minutes to relax this weekend?
I ask these questions as I find myself considering what it means to take a day off.
I am actually taking today off from work.
I have a few errands to run this morning but, for the most part the next three days are ... the next 72 hours will be....
SO FREAKING BUSY! Oh My Gawd how did I get so over committed? Why do I need to have fermented juice, watch stimulating motion pictures, and possibly see Nathan Fillon ?
Did I mention the Cheese?
This is the absolute WORST weekend for me because I spent a weekend earlier this year literally in my bed doing nothing but watching Hulu and Amazon video.
Aside from plans to go to festivals and passport weekends and cheese there is about a dozen or so FREE events to attend with the added opportunity to do the following:
- Help a friend move
- Clean an elderly person's home
- Make sandwiches and serve the homeless
- do my laundry
- Do yardwork because of the recent storms
- Have breakfast with a sitting politician ( yes I know he wouldn't eat standing up-that is rude)
- there is a flower and garden show
- The Elephant Man in San Jose
- Laser Light show
So if you think taking a day off is easy...you are wrong.
Especially, if you plan one.
Aside from the weather ...it is raining or was raining here. There is numerous factors people take in taking a day off. Aside from the financial issues and the coordinating of time and places.
For instance, I was so excited to head back to SLO County for the SOMM movie
I booked a hotel room ...for the wrong day.
So, I had to give up my plans because I could tell my plans were starting to become a mess and just fly by the seat of my pants.
Have a good weekend and be sure to double check your room reservations...you may be heading North instead of South.
