Bug OFF!!!

Here you were all ready to enjoy a great stay at a nice hotel in a seaside getaway just over the hill and thru the woods and past the Walmart over there....

but you didn't plan on him visiting you too

Yes now you have more itch then sunburn and more scratch than beer.
First off, there is no easy way to say this but straight out...

The Bugs Are Back

and they are in force. You think you got enough sunscreen you need to double the amount of bug repellent stat.

There are options and are you better off trying to use two products versus an all in one ...

I am both bug and sun weary from suffering a scorch from the sun to needlessly and nervously scratching my skin I have been indoors a lot so far this summer..
Here are a few recommendations and skin salvation's that I am using...

Avon SKIN-SO-SOFT Bug Guard PLUS IR3535® Insect Repellent Moisturizing Lotion - SPF 30 Gentle Breeze, 4 ozI have found Avon's Skin So Soft line to be effective for about an hour maybe two

Lotion is good but at 4oz I used up one bottle in one day
The aerosol version is nice and its unscented which is great except you don't know how much actually gets on your skin til you come back indoors and you find miscellaneous sunburns and bug bites ( think palomino )

After all the bug bites and sun burns I am a firm believer in Aloe Vera ...nice thing is that its generally inexpensive too
I have a giant bottle at home that I use when I get out of the shower that I smother all over my body ( yes its that good and my body is in that bad of shape ) I find my skin is healing better and any scars are minimal
Next this is something you should really consider to use daily under your makeup or if you are just always outdoors
Ocean Potion Spf45 Face Zinc Oxide Clear 1 Oz. (3-pack)
I know zinc oxide does tend to turn our faces white but I found it also kept bugs off and my skin was better at healing.
Other products I have used are Bull Frog and tried some use of natural oils

One word of caution here too much of one product is not a good thing and over doing it on combination products can lead to a trip to an emergency room ( right now my second home ). Using two separate products a sunscreen and then a bug repellent may be a better option and it will take time.
From Sand Fleas to Mosquitos to 90 degree days with the high UV Waves  taking an extra ten minutes to make sure you have your skin protected is worthwhile even if you are just going to the grocery store.

This summer is going to be very buggy to say the least here in California we had a lot of rain and that resulted in a lot of happy bugs coming back from winter break hungry.
